Mango Chutney

Mango chunks simmered with sugar and flavourful spices to prepare a sweet, spicy and tangy relish which is definitely going to delight your taste buds.

Ingredients

  1. 2 cups finely chopped raw mangoes
  2. 3 tablespoons sugar
  3. 1/4 teaspoon turmeric powder
  4. 1/2 teaspoon red chilli powder
  5. 1/4 teaspoon asafoetida
  6. 1/4 teaspoon garam masala
  7. 11/2 teaspoon salt or to taste

Method

  1. Add the chopped raw mangoes, sugar, salt, asafoetida, red chilli powder and turmeric powder in a non-stick pan. Cook on medium heat, stirring continuously for 4-5 minutes. At this point, water will seep out of the raw mangoes.
  2. Cover the pan and cook on low heat for 5-7 minutes or until it gets a thick chutney-like consistency. Keep it aside and let it cool. Once cooled, store it in a glass jar and keep refrigerated.
