Tomato Toast

Ready in 5 minutes, these toasts are a quick-fix for hunger pangs between meals or for those who do not have time to prepare breakfast before going to work.

Serves: Makes 2 toasts

  1. 2 bread slices
  2. 2 small tomatoes, sliced
  3. 2 teaspoons butter or to taste
  4. Black salt to taste
  5. 1/4 teaspoon coarsely ground black pepper or to taste


  1. Toast the bread slices in an electric toaster or a flat pan till golden brown and crispy.
  2. Apply butter on one side of each toast.
  3. Place the buttered toasts in a dish with the buttered side facing upwards.
  4. Place 4-5 tomato slices on each toast.
  5. Sprinkle black salt and coarsely ground black pepper (preferably freshly ground).
  6. Enjoy with your favorite hot drink.

Recipe Tip:

You can replace butter with hummus to make these toasts healthier.
