Choco-Nut Halwa

Halwa is one of the most popular Indian desserts and is typically made of semolina, ghee and sugar. I have created this unique halwa recipe by using an ingredient which is mostly everyone’s favourite – chocolate. This delectable dessert made from a heavenly delicious combination of chocolate and nuts is a perfect treat for any chocolate lover!

Ingredients

  1. 1/2 cup dark chocolate chips
  2. 1/2 cup khoya
  3. 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
  4. 1 tablespoon chopped almonds
  5. 1 tablespoon chopped cashew nuts
  6. 1 tablespoon hazelnuts (cut into chunky slices)
  7. 3 tablespoons caster sugar or to taste

Method

  1. Heat 1 tablespoon unsalted butter in a pan, add chopped nuts and fry them for 30 seconds while stirring continuously.
  2. Add khoya and cook for 4-5 minutes. Add the dark chocolate chips and mix well. Cook for another 2-3 minutes till melted butter oozes out of the mixture. Turn off the heat, add caster sugar and mix well.
  3. Enjoy warm topped with hazelnuts & almonds!
