Peanut & Til Laddu

Healthy and delicious laddus which are super-easy and quick to prepare using only 5 ingredients.

They are powerhouse of nutrients and can easily replace your store-bought energy bars.

  1. 1.5 cups peanuts
  2. 1/2 cup sesame seeds
  3. 1 cup jaggery (powdered or broken into very small pieces)
  4. 3 tablespoons ghee
  5. 1 teaspoon cardamom powder


  1. Place the peanuts in a single layer on a baking tray lined with baking paper or aluminium foil. Roast in a pre-heated oven at 180C for 12 minutes (Stir them once after 6 minutes and place them back in the oven for another 6 minutes).
  2. While the peanuts are getting roasted, dry roast the sesame seeds in a pan on medium heat for about a minute or till they are light brown and release a nice aroma. Keep aside and let them cool.
  3. Put the roasted peanuts in a kitchen towel or any cotton cloth and rub them vigorously with your hands to remove the skin of the peanuts. Once all the peanuts have been de-skinned, place them in a bowl.
  4. Grind the peanuts into a coarse powder in an electric grinder. Do not over-grind the peanuts otherwise they will release their oil and turn into peanut butter instead of peanut powder.
  5. Grind half of the roasted sesame seeds in an electric grinder and keep them aside.
  6. Combine the ground peanuts, sesame seeds (ground and whole) and cardamom powder in a large bowl. Mix well.
  7. Heat the jaggery on low heat for 5-10 seconds or till it gets melted. Add ghee to melted jaggery and pour it immediately in the bowl having rest of the ingredients. Mix well with a spoon.
  8. Let the laddu mixture cool down slightly so that it doesn't burn your hands. Do not let it cool down completely otherwise it will be difficult to roll it into laddus.
  9. Once the mixture has cooled down a bit but still warm enough to be rolled into laddus, grease your palms with ghee and roll out the laddus.
  10. Store in an air-tight container.
