Ingredients

  1. Ingredients for Burger Patty:
  2. 2 large potatoes, boiled & peeled
  3. 1 small beetroot, finely grated
  4. 1/2 cup boiled peas
  5. 1 teaspoon freshly ground ginger
  6. 1 teaspoon finely chopped green chillies or to taste
  7. 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  8. 2 tablespoons finely chopped coriander leaves
  9. 2 slices of whole-wheat bread
  10. 1 teaspoon chat masala
  11. Oil for pan-frying
  12. Salt to taste
  13. Other Ingredients:
  14. 4 burger buns
  15. 1 cucumber, thinly sliced
  16. 1 tomato, thinly sliced
  17. 1 onion, thinly sliced
  18. 1 tablespoon tomato ketchup
  19. 1 tablespoon chilli sauce
  20. 4 cheese slices

Method

  1. Mash the potatoes using a potato masher.
  2. Dip the bread slices in a bowl filled with water and squeeze them between your hands.
  3. Combine all the ingredients for the burger patty (except oil) in a large bowl and mix well.
  4. Grease your palms with oil. Take a portion of the mixture and shape it into a ball. Flatten it gently between your palms and give it the shape of a burger patty. Repeat the same process to make patties from the remaining mixture.
  5. Heat a non-stick flat-pan and grease it with oil. Gently place the patties on the pan about 1 inch apart from each other so that they can be flipped easily when done from one side. Cook the patties on medium heat and flip them over carefully using a spatula when golden brown and crisp from one side. Add little oil and cook till the other side becomes crisp and golden brown as well.

  7. To assemble the burger, place a cheese slice on one side of the burger bun. Then place the burger patty and spread the tomato-chilli sauce on it. Top it up with onion, cucumber & tomato slices. Cover it with the other part of burger bun.
  8. Serve hot with cafe mocha.

Recipe Tips:

You can also use green chutney instead of tomato-chilli sauce mixture.
