Papdi Chaat

Lip-smacking chaat prepared by dunking crispy savoury discs in whisked yogurt and topping them with boiled potatoes, chickpeas & flavoursome chutneys.

  1. 14 papdis/puris (see the recipe link below)
  2. 1 cup whisked yogurt
  3. 2 boiled potatoes, finely chopped
  4. 2 tablespoons boiled chana
  5. 2 tablespoons finely chopped onions
  6. 1/2 cup tamarind chutney
  7. 1 cup green chutney (recipe link at the bottom)
  8. 2 tablespoons finely chopped coriander leaves
  9. 1 teaspoon chaat masala
  10. 1 teaspoon roasted cumin powder
  11. 1/4 teaspoon red chilli powder (optional)
  12. Salt to taste


  1. Arrange 6-7 papdis/puris in 2 separate dishes.
  2. Combine boiled potatoes, chickpeas, onions, red chilli powder, chaat masala and salt in a bowl. Mix well.
  3. Top each papdi with a spoonful of potato masala followed by 1/2 teaspoon each of tamarind & green chutney.
  4. Finish with a generous topping of yogurt on each papdi.
  5. Sprinkle some chaat masala, red chilli powder and roasted cumin powder.
  6. Serve immediately.
