Time: 20 minutes | Serves: Makes 3 large or 4 medium-sized burgers
Ingredients
Ingredients for Burger Patty:
1 large potato, boiled & peeled
1/2 cup boiled rajma (red kidney beans)
1/2 cup steamed mixed vegetables (broccoli, carrots, sweet corn or any vegetables of your choice)
1 teaspoon freshly ground ginger
1 teaspoon freshly ground green chilli (optional)
2 tablespoons finely chopped coriander leaves
1 teaspoon chat masala
Oil for pan-frying
Salt to taste
Other Ingredients:
4 burger buns
1 cucumber, thinly sliced
1 small tomato, thinly sliced
Tomato Ketchup to taste
4 cheese slices
1/2 teaspoon butter
1 teaspoon sesame seeds
Method
Combine all the ingredients for the burger patty (except oil) in a large bowl and mash them using a potato masher.
Grease your palms with oil. Take a portion of the mixture and shape it into a ball. Flatten it gently between your palms and give it the shape of a burger patty. Repeat the same process to make patties from the remaining mixture.
Heat a non-stick flat-pan and grease it with oil. Gently place the patties on the pan about 1 inch apart from each other so that they can be flipped easily when done from one side. Cook the patties on medium heat and flip them over carefully using a spatula when golden brown and crisp from one side. Add little oil and cook till the other side becomes crisp and golden brown as well.
Heat butter on the same pan and sprinkle a teaspoon of sesame seeds on it. Place the burger buns on it and lightly toast them from both sides.
To assemble the burger, place a cheese slice on one side of the burger bun. Then place the burger patty and spread tomato ketchup generously on it. Top it up with cucumber & tomato slices. Cover it with the other part of burger bun.
Serve hot with potato chips & pina-colada drink.
Recipe Tips:
You can replace broccoli with any other vegetable of your choice.
If the burger mixture is too loose to form the patties, add a tablespoon of bread crumbs or cornflour.
You can also use beetroot cutlets for making this burger.
